The HB17 protein is a homodomain-leucine zipper (HD-Zip) protein
which is part of a family of plant transcription factors. These are
proteins that bind to specific DNA sequences and regulate gene
expression and have been shown to play an important role in the
modulation of plant growth and development.
HB17 is a member of the class II subfamily of HD-Zip proteins which
form either homodimers or heterodimers with other HD-Zip II
proteins and function as repressors of gene expression.
